Cork County Council is a Local Authority with responsibility for providing services to the public of Cork County. Cork County Council has an annual budget in excess of €300million and over 2,000 staff. With 51 elected representatives Cork County Council is Geographically the largest county in Ireland and second in overall revenue.
The services of the county council are spread across 9 seperate directorates. – Environment, Roads, Housing, Planning, Corporate Services, Engineeering, Divisional Services, Fire and Economic Development. Cork County Council have been involved in 40 successful EU- Co Funded Energy projects since 1995, 9 of which were lead by Cork County Council the initial project was the set up of Cork County Energy Agency which was the first energy agency in Ireland and is still very active today at Local and International levels.
Through the previous projects Cork County Council have worked with over 100 partners in 23 Member States. Cork County Council are also currently vice presidents of Energy Cities a European network of 1000 municipalities and are Signatories of the Covent of Mayors
